We come here a lot. Our slice of La France Profonde is a once abandoned farmhouse that we bought as a 40th Birthday present and spent our holidays for years fixing up. That, however, is another story.
Creuse is the land time forgot. A landscape worn by water from rivers, lakes and the heavens, moulding hills and valleys, deep forests, and pastureland inhabited by hard-staring Limousin and Charolais cattle who outnumber the sparse Creusois population that live in granite villages connected by empty winding roads. But camouflaged in the landscape, towns and villages are latent delights waiting to be discovered.
